Danish Secrétaire
Danish Secrétaire
An exceptional Danish mid-century secretary desk in rosewood, designed by Arne Wahl Iversen (1927-2016) for Vinde Møbelfabrik. The secrétaire features a drop-down front, revealing ample storage space and two drawers. The piece is distinguished by the beautiful rosewood grain front and elegantly sculpted drawer-pulls. The structure is elevated on round tapered legs. Ideal for your home office.
Stamped on the back “Made in Denmark n°37” on and in the first drawer “Danish furniture makers control”.
Arne Wahl Iversen learned furniture making from the family’s furniture business and later studied furniture design at the Odense Technical School. He attended the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen in 1949, studying under renowned designer Kaare Klint. After finishing his studies, Iversen opened his own furniture shop in Nyborg, where his work impressed IKEA founder Ingvar Kamprad. Although their collaboration was brief, Iversen's designs gained popularity, initially in Denmark and later across Europe and America. He created notable pieces for Komfort and Vinde Møbelfabrik before retiring in the mid-1980s.
